Meet Our Founder
Founded by Cedar Hill native and CHHS alumna DeAundra Hurd, WOU was born from a desire to fill the gaps — to show up where help is needed, to amplify voices that often go unheard, and to create spaces where young people and families feel seen, celebrated, and supported.
Through powerful initiatives like DFW Prom Dreams, Storytime at the Station, and inclusive community events such as our Let’s Wave Together Inclusion Pool Party, Wave of Unity is creating real moments of joy, relief, and belonging.
We believe in showing up, standing in the gap, and spreading love — one wave at a time.

Wave of Unity exists to equip youth, families, and communities with the resources, relationships, and opportunities they need to thrive.
